Review: Gidget has a Glitch- Storybook iPad App
Another interactive storybook app for iPad was released a few days ago called Gidget has a Glitch. When a little boy named Erik goes looking for a new friend, he decides to create a robot friend that he labels Gidget. Working together as a dynamic duo, the boy and his robot fight crime, explore the jungle and fly around the moon… until Erik the robot has a glitch and becomes sick. What a wonderful and clever title and fun story as Gidget eventually repairs his robotic friend in this childrens story about friendship. (screenshots and video after break)
We think you’ll enjoy the high quality graphics and illustrations in this children’s story. Young children will enjoy the story and the interactivity of this iPad app book. We like the feature that allows the child to choose whether to read the story themselves or have a narrator read it for them. The voice of the narration is that of a child, which I really liked and adds more appeal for the young child reader. As the story is read the words are highlighted on your iPad 2 screen. Kids will enjoy tapping on any word from the story so that they can repeat the reading of that word again. This is a nice way for the child to increase comprehension and reading skills in this iPad app.
The developers have done a nice job with this app and think that the future updates could include a few more opportunities for children to interact with more features to tap and swipe. We really like the story content and how it emphasized the value of friendship and our need for each other.
This app for iPad from Bright Bunny is available on the iTunes app store for $1.99.
