Today was the big day for the announcement of the a new iPad 3 release. It comes with a with a stunning new HD display and the ability to connect at high speed over 4G broadband networks.
Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage Wednesday in San Francisco to demonstrate the new iPad 3 at an invitation-only event. It was for a minute a wave a sadness to be reminded that Steve Jobs was no longer with us.
Tim Cook told the crowd of iPad fans:
“In many ways the iPad is reinventing portable computing, and it’s outstripping the wildest of predictions,”
The iPad 3 will have a high-resolution “retina” display and connect to 4G LTE services that are offered by carriers like AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless. The tablet will also have a five megapixel camera. Continue reading
As we expected Apple sent out invites today for iPad 3 release that we’ve all been eagerly waiting for. As we had reported earlier the expected March 7th date to announce the iPad 3 will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10 a.m. PST.
I’m sure you’ve already noticed that in the image above that the home button is missing on this supposed iPad 3 device. We expect to see the retina display announced along with a faster A5X chip on board the iPad 3. We do think it will include the optional LTE coverage on the upper price models. Continue reading
The Wall Street Journal reported today that the Chinese company Proview got another setback in fighting Apple over rights to the iPad trademark in China. The People’s court in Shanghai rejected a Proview’s desire for a preliminary injunction against the sale of iPad. This means Apple can continue selling iPads in its flagship Shanghai stores and it keeps the iPad 3 release announcement on track.
The court also acceded to a request by Apple to postpone proceedings until a court in China’s southern Guangdong province decides on an appeal in another case requested by the Cupertino, Calif., company. The Guangdong Provincial High Court is expected to hear the appeal on Wednesday.
The hearings in Shanghai are pushed back until the results of a separate case in the Guangdong provincial high court gives a ruling. Continue reading
It appears that the iPad 3 display will be an ultra-high resolution display. iPad 3 component parts leaks usually arrive a few weeks before the launch of each iPad. Looks like MacRumors has firm confirmation of an iPad 3 retina display.
They were able to get their hands on one of these iPad 3 screens and put it under a microscope to examine closely the resolution. They report that iPad 3 screen is the same size as the current iPad 2 device which measures diagonally 9.7 inches.
When MacRumors compared the iPad 3 screen to the same screen on the iPad 2 tablet under a microscope it showed that iPad 3 display’s pixels appearing to be one-quarter the size of those on the iPad 2. Continue reading
We are all getting excited about the upcoming iPad 3 release which still seems to be set for March 7th in San Francisco. The iPad 3 is rumored to feature the Apple A6 quad-core processor. This will be a big upgrade if this rumor is true. Everyone expects the improved graphics to include the new Retina display.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that AT&T and Verizon will carry the iPad 3 which will include LTE capability. It would only seem right for Sprint to also be included as an LTE iPad 3 carrier but the WSJ makes no mention of that. Here is an excerpt from the WSJ yesterday. Continue reading
