For Music Lovers with an iPad

There is an amazing iPad app out there for music lovers. Moo Cow Music’s iPad 2 app is called Pianist Pro, and it has children and adults using their touchpad fingers to play piano melodies with their iPad.

With the variety of piano apps on the market, Moo Cow Music stands out from the crowd. Their multi-touch piano app actually features a full 88 key piano keyboard. As a pianist, I can tell you that there is nothing more frustrating than playing a keyboard with limited keys. Music lovers are forced to only play a segment of a song or transpose it completely because of the limits placed upon them by the creators of the keyboard. Fortunately, users will not have to worry about that with Pianist Pro!

Another irritation with common keyboards is the sound. If your ear is acutely tuned to how a note is supposed to sound, then the annoying bings of a computer generated keyboard is enough to drive one mad. The sound on Pianist Pro, however, is ‘sampled from a real piano for maximum authenticity!’

Great Battles iPad app

This iPad app hit the app store today. It is called D-Day 1944 and offers you the history of the Normandy landings with this colourful, fact-filled ipad app. This app comes to you from Amber Books and MSM Studio. This iPad app has some pretty cools features like an animated map of D-Day 1944. This history app for iPad really utilizes the iPad experience with audio commentary, a detailed battle history, image gallery and a D-Day quiz.
Even if you are not a history and war buff you’ll appreciate the detailed map animation, showing the progress of the attacks on the five beaches and the Nazi resistance they encountered. The developers have done a good job detailing the end of Hitler’s Nazi Germany on the iPad platform. You can watch, read and listen to the historical account of the build-up to the operation, the action itself and the aftermath of the Normandy Landings. Square Register for iPad


The big announcement from Square happened on Monday in New York and it did not disappoint. Square is the company that introduced the card reader that allows point of sale on iOS devices. Now Square takes their concept to the next level with the introduction “Square Register” for iPad and iPad 2. This is really exciting and innovative integration with the iPad 2. The vision here by Square is eventually to replace the traditional cash register with iPads that are equipped with the new Square Register device and software interface. The Square ipad app will allow businesses to customize the screen interface with their full list of products and brand it for their business.

Analytics tools will allow businesses to see up-the-minute details on sales performance, broken down by any number of metrics to help businesses study sales trends. The Square Register functionality comes as an update to the iPad version of the company’s universal App Store app.
How it will really catch on is with the consumer. Square also, introduced the “Card Case” along with the Square Register. This virtual business card give customers a lot of detail about their favorite merchants. From your virtual card case you be able to access live-updated menus and product listings and see your transaction histories.

Square CEO, Jack Dorsey compares this to having a permanent tab opened with the business will allow a customer to establish a relationship with a business and pay for goods without having to carry a wallet. Your receipts are pushed to your phone for record-tracking. iPad and iPhone users can initiate a payment by activating the business’s Square Card on their phone when within range of the business and then simply giving their name at the register to have the purchase charged to their account.

You should be able to start using Square Register and Square Cards in New York City, San Francisco, Washington DC, St. Louis, and Los Angeles with selected Square merchants right away. Can’t wait to see merchants using their iPad 2 cash registers.

Photoshop companion iPad apps

Today Adobe released three Photoshop CS5 companion iPad apps. This is in conjunction with Adobe’s new Creative Suite 5.5 that was released last week with iPad apps support for Photoshop. The 3 new apps  are available today for sale on the iTunes app store. These three iPad applications, which range in price from $1.99 to $4.99, require Adobe Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.4.
Adobe Eazel ($4.99): Offers digital artists a way to create stunning and realistic paintings with fingertip touch and introduces a new kind of interaction between “wet” and “dry” paints. This iPad app takes advantage of cutting-edge painting technology on the iPad. The paintings that you create can then be sent directly to Photoshop CS5 for compositing or for developing the artwork further.

Adobe Color Lava ($2.99): Creative professionals are able to use this iPad app with their fingertips to mix colors on , creating custom color swatches and themes to transfer back into Photoshop. The app offers mmediate access to those color creations within Photoshop CS5 with a wifi sync to your Mac or PC. Adobe Color Lava iPad app will be great to use on the go whenever inspiration grabs you. You can also email your Adobe Color Lava creations to yourself and others from within this iPad app

Adobe Nav ($1.99): Increases workflow efficiency by letting users select and control Photoshop tools using your iPad as the input enterface. This iPad app lets you customize the toolbar, browse and zoom in on up to 200 open Photoshop files or easily create new files.
More companion applications are expected with Adobe’s new Photoshop Touch SDK that was released to iOS developers recently. It allows developers to create iPad apps that interact with Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop CS5 Extended software. Continue reading

Al Gore, our former vice president, released his new book on the iPad today. This ipad book app looks really good and features text, images, interactive graphics, audio commentary and of course, documentary video. This iPad app is an immersive experience that will leave you disturbed and captivated by the climate change issues facing our times.
